Do design agencies publish their prices?

We checked the websites of 200 design, branding and web agencies to see who shows a price, what kind, and what everyone else says instead.

The short answer

Most don't. Of 181 agency websites we could read, 57 (31.5%) publish any price, and only 32 (17.7%) publish a price for design work itself: a logo, a brand, a website or app design. The rest of the published prices are mostly SEO or ads retainers, hosting and care plans. Branding agencies publish least (5 of 30). Where agencies don't show a price, they ask you to get in touch: "contact us" appears on 60% of those sites.

Monthly plans are common, and the cheapest price is rarely the project

40 of the 57 agencies that publish prices show at least one monthly price, including websites sold as a subscription, starting at the equivalent of about $135 to $200 a month.

The lowest one-off price an agency advertises has a median of $799 (37 agencies), or $1,039 without six cut-price package shops whose logos start at $35 to $70. That's the cheapest thing on the page, often a small add-on, not what a typical project costs.

What it means if you're hiring

Three things to plan for.

  1. 01

    Expect to ask.

Seven in ten agencies in the sample show no price at all, and fewer than one in five show a price for design work. Plan for a call before you can compare. How to choose a design agency.

  2. 02

Read a published price for what it covers.

Many of the prices we found were for SEO or ads retainers, hosting or care plans, not design. Check what the price is for: the cheapest figure on a page can be a logo package or an add-on, not a website or a brand. What a startup website costs.

  3. 03

Bring a budget range to the first call.

One in six agencies asks for a budget on its contact form, and the median lowest option is about $3,500 for a project. A range lets an agency propose the right scope instead of guessing. How to brief a design agency.

Method and limits

How we checked 200 websites.

We drew 200 agencies from Sortlist's public listings for branding, web design, UX design, full-service and design agencies, 50 each in the US, the UK, Canada and Australia. Each Sortlist profile lists the agency's own website. On 4 October 2026 we fetched each homepage and its linked pricing, services and contact pages with plain HTTP requests, within each site's robots.txt, at most one request a second and no more than 11 pages per site. 181 sites could be read; 11 were dead, 7 needed JavaScript and 1 blocked us.

We read every money amount by hand (97 sites had one) and kept only the agency's own prices. Every recorded price is checked word for word against the saved page. We also tried /pricing and /packages directly on the sites without prices, which found one unlinked pricing page. Prices in other currencies are converted at the European Central Bank rates of 2 October 2026 (1 GBP = 1.3201 USD, 1 AUD = 0.6939 USD, 1 CAD = 0.7023 USD).

We re-opened 20 random agencies live and agreed on whether they publish prices for 20 of 20, on the budget field for 19 of 19, and on the lowest price for 6 of 7.

Limits. Sortlist is a paid lead marketplace, so the sample leans towards web agencies and includes package shops and IT or marketing firms: it describes agencies listed there, not the whole industry. We read pages without running JavaScript, so 31.5% and 16.6% are lower bounds; 22 contact forms load from tools like HubSpot or Typeform, whose fields we couldn't see. Breakdowns by deliverable, hourly rates and app design rest on too few agencies to publish. Agency names are left out.
